Martial Arts Around the World: Chicago (Alpha Krav Maga Compound/Northbrook)
Waaaazzzzuupppp! Hope you are well and in fabulous spirits! This is another long overdue post on my friends at the Alpha Krav Maga compound in Northbrook, IL. I had the chance to hang out with them, and want to share my experience with you! So get comfortable and lets get to it!
Northbrook, IL
So we’re back in Northbrook, IL, a suburb of Chicago that’s home to awesome parks for hiking, corporations like Allstate Insurance and only a few minutes drive from the Skokie Lagoons. It’s also home to the Alpha Krav Maga Compound: a fitness, self-defense and martial arts club that offers classes in Krav Maga, Mixed Martial Arts (including BJJ and Muay Thai), self defense, weapons training, and courses for military and law enforcement personnel. I linked up with Diana Azrikam, Krav Maga and fitness instructor and owner of the Krav Maga Compound. Diana is a very warm, sweet lady and she made me feel right at home. I got to observe her teaching an outdoor fitness class. I also got the chance to hang out with Bellator veteran and Muay Thai instructor Mike De La Vega, as well as former Israeli Navy Seal and BJJ instructor Lior Ofir. The highlight of the experience for me was hanging out with Diana as I wrapped up. She is a very down to earth, kind person, and her character certainly reflected in her staff.
